About myself

When I was 15 I wanted to go to the Rietveld Academy, but I was not admitted due to my (too) young age. This also applied to the conservatory. After graduating from M.T.S. Vocational school Schoonhoven, I also obtained my diploma as a dental assistant and started my HBO study Industrial Engineering. As a 10-year-old child, my parents gave me my own camera; one of those where you have to arrange the settings yourself :) A Minolta AL-F, my mother's previous device. I loved taking pictures. But film rolls and developing/printing was something expensive. So I may have 'shot' 10 rolls full. But my love for photography was a fact.

A while later, after I went to live with my husband in the municipality of Opmeer, my love for photography (also) flared up again. Before the birth of our youngest in, I bought a digital compact camera: a Samsung NX-30. After he went to primary school, I fully dedicated myself to my new hobby of photography in the summer of 2021 (due to homeschooling for our son during COVID, I needed the camera for an assignment voor his school). At the end of that same summer, I became a member of Fotoclub Heerhugowaard and 3 days later at Expositie Kunstkring Opmeer (Exhibition Art group), where I was allowed to participate during the spring exhibition.
In 2022 I participated in 8 exhibitions, including a solo exhibition. I also received various nominations and prizes from the Koninklijke Fotobond Nederland (Royal Dutch Society for Photography) and became a member of  FIAP (Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique) at the end of the year. Two months later I received my AFIAP award.  Half a year later the American QPSA award and less than 3 weeks after that   the British LRPS award.

From family pictures of our own family, I made the transition to amateur photography. Unfortunately I can't spend as much time on photography as I would like, because the rheumatism is getting in my way: dosing is the magic word!
